Garage Doors
Replacement garage doors are one of the home repairs that are bringing people a high rate of return on their investment. If you are thinking about replacing your garage doors, you have many choices available for consideration. Style and construction grades are one thing, but how do you know you are getting a well-built garage door? While some overhead garage door companies generally offer a better product than others, no one brand is going to be right for every situation. We are not locked in to using any one manufacturer, so we are free to give you an honest assessment of the many available garage door supliers and use the ones that will best meet your needs for garage doors.
Even if you know exactly what you are looking for, we recommend getting all estimates done in person. There is no better way to judge whether a garage door installer is going to take pride in his work than by talking to him face to face. Besides, many garage door service companies love to throw nice sounding numbers out over the phone with no real intention of doing the work at that price. Even honest quotes can't account for the potential of a less than standard situation in your garage and problems with miscommunication.
Every Day Doors

Raised Panel Garage Doors
Basic garage doors have come a long way in the past couple of decades. The most common garage door style installed today is the steel Raised Panel (also known as Short Panel) garage door. While most manufacturers offer a door with this design, they all have their unique details that can affect both style definition and sectional strength. The basic pattern comes with several options so you can create a more unique look without affecting your budget. We offer raised panel garage doors with four different construction options.
Plain Metal Raised Panel Garage Doors
Plain metal garage doors are constructed with a single layer of 25 gauge stamped steel on the outside with an optional upgrade to 24 gauge steel. Plain metal garage doors are the most affordable garage door option, and are just as functional as any other garage door type. The down side to plain metal doors is the fact that they have no insulation value. Plain metal doors are not recommended for garages with living space above, or for a garage where you plan on spending large amounts of time in.
Insulated Raised Panel Garage Doors
Insulated garage doors are just a plain metal door with sheets of polystyrene inserted on the back side of the door between the steel styles. All of our insulated garage doors are two inches thick and have an R-value of 7, which means they have half the R-value of an insulated 2x4 wall. The inside face of the insulattion is overlayed with a vinyl membrane which gives it a nice flush look. Our insulated garage doors are a great value for this region, moderating the temperature in the garage and absorbing much of the noise a garage door makes while operating. Insulated garage doors are not recommended for the garage shop mechanic, or for a garage where large dogs are left to roam in, due to the fact that polystyrene is both flammable and easily punctured.
Two Sided Steel Raised Panel Garage Doors
Two sided steel garage doors are the most durrable construction option for residential garage doors. The outside layer comes standare with 26 gauge steel or a 25 gauge upgrade and 27 gauge steel on the inside. These doors are also referred to as sandwich garage doors because insulation is sandwiched between the two layers of steel. Each layer of steel reinforces the opposite layer with the insulation tightly sandwiched in the middle. With a two sided steel garage door you can expect an R-value of 8-9 and a door that is durable enough to last a lifetime.
Urethane Core Raised Panel Garage Doors
Urethane core garage doors are a two sided steel garage door that has been injected with urethane insulation. Urethane insulation is a very dence and efficient insulation often used for refrigerators. The urethane insulation adds strength to the garage door and doubles the R-value. Urethane Core garage doors are recommended for those who would like a heated garage in the winter and a cooled garage in the summer.
Raised Panel Garage Doors With Windows
Beyond style differences, you can add windows which have several different decorative insert options to choose from. The windows are also able to be installed at the top or more towards the middle of the garage door. If you are comparing different doors, be sure to get the facts. When two manufacturers refer to their insulated garage door or their steel back garage door, they are not always talking about equivalent products. Even when you are looking at specific insulation ratings, not all door makers use industry recognized testing standards.
If you are interested in the older recessed-style wood garage door, they are still available. Because of product cost and inability to upgrade, they are no longer popular options even though they offer some advantages over a base model steel doors.

Carriage Doors

Stamped Carriage Garage Doors
Most stamped carriage garage doors are similarly made and have similar upgrade options to the raised panel garage doors mentioned above. The paneling on the carriage door is usually going to emulate a bead board pattern, and then decorative hardware is added to the outside face. Most people agree that this gives the door significant style enhancement for a surprisingly modest cost increase.
Window Options For Stamped Carriage Garage Doors
Carriage doors can be installed with or without windows, and will add elegance to your house no matter which way you like them. Our glazed carriage garage doors have larger windows than raised panel doors, which need to be installed at the top of the door to give the proper carriage look. The windows for the stamped carriage garage doors have several different designer insert options which are part of the standard glazed carriage door package.
Stamped Carriage Garage Door Hardware Options
Stamped steel handles and hinges with a spade design come standard with our carriage garage door packages. For those who would like a more elegant look, we also offer wrought iron handles and hinges which are thicker and give the door more definition.
Stamped Carriage Garage Door Upgrades
The stamped carriage garage doors can be ordered as plain metal, insulated, or two sided steel just like any other stamped steel garage door.

Custom Carriage Garage Doors
When you want your garage door to stand head and shoulder above your neighbors, or you need a garage door to enhance your home's craftsman look, a custom carriage garage door is the way to go. Overlay doors will emulate a custom wood carriage door, but at the same time are more affordable and maintenance free. Our standard overlay doors are insulated with a two sided steel upgrade option.
Custom Wood Carriage Garage Doors
Custom wood carriage garage doors have too many potential styles and material options to mention. Plan on paying a premium for these hand crafted garage doors due to the material expenses, finish options, and the many hours of labor to present a finished product.
